Thank you all for your hard work at band camp last week. It was a wonderful experience for me to get to work with
all of you thoughout the summer and through pre-camp and band camp. I hope Brian and I were helpful to your learnings
and we really do wish you the best for your marching season. Even without Brian or myself there with you at
all of your rehearsals, games, or competitions, I pray that you all will stay motivated and unified as one body, (the Drum
Force) and when you get a new drum technician --- no matter how good or bad this person may be, make sure you learn as much
from him or her as possible. People are always placed into and pulled out of your lives for a reason, so just trust
that everything will fall into place --- and work hard, okay? Work hard. Anytime you feel that things are all
going wrong, find one thing you can fix and fix it, and always look to fixing your own errors before trying to fix others'
errors.
Andrew is in the process of learning how to use the Sibelius music composing program and I will be running music through
him, so please be aware of that. For the second movement, Snares and Tenors will be using the already written parts
and I have prepared a bass drum arrangement for 5 basses that Andrew should have printed out ready for you (basses.)
For the closer, I have prepared a battery arrangement, but I feel like the parts may be too hard, so I will try to find
time to water down the parts. Keep bugging me to do that --- if it doesn't happen, I'm sure someone else will be able
to pick up that small slack. For the pit, Brian should be finishing up the 2nd and 3rd movements, but I don't know when
he will be doing that. If you ever need any advice or questions about anything at all, please feel free to e-mail me
at: shortndsweet06@hotmail.com
Good luck with everything! I am always with you in spirit! (and always with you in stretches... long
live the 'I' stretch, and long live the West Valley High School Drum Force 2006!)
